THEN: 5 years ago our first heifer calf was born, the mama was one of the original 3 cows we purchased. We bought
mama pregnant with this heifer; however, she was bred to the wrong bull and produced a very large calf due to a phynominon called "the F1 Vigor".
To make matters worse, the calf was stuck on mama's pelvis and was backwards! To save mama and calf, Amanda had to move the calf legs around the pelvis and we had
to pull the calf out... an extremely difficult and labor intensive process. The calf weighed 70 lbs compared to the other 2 calves she had at ~30 lbs!!! Something we didn't expect for our "first calf"...
