Grass Fed and Grass Finished Beef BA Angus & Agriculture is your brokerage and livestock management service to produce high quality, grass-fed and grass-finished beef for your family. We offer you the opportunity to purchased an interest in a live, growing animal known as a "Share." We have three different types of Shares per cow: Premium, Choice, and Basic; each designed to fit your family needs. We manage the process of finding other partners in your cow to finish out the shares you don't wish to purchase. We will raise your cow to its target harvest weight, roughly 1000 lbs, on high quality grasses and hay while managing its health and nutrition. Our cows liver their lives in the pasture and we do not finish any cows on grain as is typical for the commercial market; thus, the end result will be high quality, grass-fed beef that you typically can only find in fancy restaurants or high-end meat retailers. Also, with 3 payment plans and freezer lease space available, our beef is affordable on any budget. After the processor completes their work, we will pickup the meat, separate it into the appropriate Shares, get a final weight for each cut/Share, and then deliver it to your door fresh. A freezer is recommended to freeze anything that won't be eaten a few days after delivery and we have deep freeze space for lease by the cubic foot allowing you to divide and store any portion needed without paying extra for freezer space you don't need.** Please note that our Beef Operation is under a "custom exemption" grant and although the beef is NOT inspected by the USDA, as is all commercially produced beef, the same standards are applied to our harvest process. Since our beef is specifically raised for you and you become a "Share Owner" please see our additional Cattle Management Agreement & Services document that covers the responsibilities and acknowledgments for BA Angus & Ag and the Share Owner.
Share "Add-On" Items include Hanger Steak, Soup Bones, Broth Bones, Dog Bones, Liver, Heart, and Tail. Please contact us for details. *Estimate Based on a 1,000 lb live animal and the Farm's Beef Production Estimation Tables. Cost may vary depending on market conditions. **A deep freezer is recommended for long term storage; BA Angus & Ag freezer space is $5/cubit foot/month - 4 cubic feet would be needed for a whole premium share. |

Turkey Heritage turkey for Thanksgiving or Christmas, an annual special that we start preparing for in February each year! We raise several breeds of turkey whose lineage traces back to the original domesticated turkey; subsequently, our birds can live outside, fly, forage for grass, seeds, and bugs, as well as reproduce on their own. We keep a breeding flock year-round and raise our own birds for your family. Heritage turkey also differ from the white broad-breasted turkey (typically found at the grocery store), in that the white:dark meat ratio is 55:45 vs the broad-breasted at 65:35. Our turkeys reach harvest weight in 24-28 weeks (white broad-breasted are 14-18 weeks), so it takes a while of careful management to harvest size. In addition to the forage the birds are allowed to get, we custom mix their provided food from whole grains, seeds, and alfalfa to provide a rich diet translating into wonderfully flavored and healthy meat for you. Our turkey are processed in our on-site Processing Facility the week before your chosen holiday, so your turkey arrives fresh & never frozen! You can order your turkey raw to cook yourself or choose one of our flavors and have it smoked in our walk-in smokehouse. The smoke recipes are created in our kitchen using only high quality herbs and spices. For the more "adventuresome" types/families, we do have the option of "harvest your own bird" where we guide you through the entire process, using our facility, and you do all the hard work yourself! Place a Turkey Deposit at the Farm Store Deposit availability starts in September of each year after we have gathered sufficient data on the flock to predict available sizes. We recommend 1 to 1.5 pounds of bone-in turkey per person, depending on how much left-overs you like. Finished turkeys can be picked up at the farm or delivered about 2 days prior to the selected holiday. For smoked turkeys, re-heating instructions are provided (please DO NOT microwave!!!) and for all of our turkeys, giblets and a giblet gravy recipe are provided. Please note that our Poultry Operation is under a "custom exemption" and although the poultry is NOT inspected by the USDA, as is all commercially produced poultry, the same standards are applied to our harvest process and meat handling requirements.
*Not all sizes are available at all times; raising heritage turkey means we are tied to the environment the turkeys live in. Turkeys may not start laying eggs soon enough based on weather patterns (thus producing smaller birds at harvest), hatching rates vary, and growth rates naturally vary. **Final cost will be determined at harvest and all efforts will be made to harvest a turkey within your selected weight bracket. Costs will also vary based on "type" of selected turkey (raw, smoked, harvest your own). |

Free-Range Chicken Eggs The varied natural diet of free-ranging chickens allow them to pack a lot more nutritional value into their eggs, which is mainly concentrated in the yolk. This is why the yoke is darker than a yoke from a store bought egg. In addition to the extra omega-3 fats, vitamin D and vitamin E, natural eggs contain more vitamin A as well as two important B vitamins -- folate, the natural form of folic acid, and vitamin B-12. Natural eggs also deliver more lutein and zeaxanthin, two antioxidants important for eye health. We raise several different breeds of birds to get a variety of colors in our egg shells. All eggs have a natural protective coating on the shell called the bloom. This coating seals the eggshell pores so harmful bacterial cannot enter the egg, it also reduces moisture loss for the egg. We do not wash our eggs, but instead rely on the natural bloom to keep the eggs safe to eat. Eggs can be picked up from the Farm or may be included in your other deliveries. We do not sell eggs at farmer's markets we attend due to the refrigeration requirement placed on egg sellers by the USDA and city health inspectors. The guidance for our eggs is as follows:
Eggs have not been washed to preserve their natural ability to resist bacteria growth. Keep on counter top for up to 4 weeks or refrigerate for up to 6 weeks. Must refrigerate if washed.
To prevent illness from bacteria, keep eggs refrigerated, cook eggs until yolks are firm, and cook foods containing eggs thoroughly. Eggs |

Produce, Herbs, Sprouts, and More! All of our produce is grown here in Texas at BA Angus & Agriculture; because of this, you may not always find what you are looking for (we don't grow oranges...they don't really like it around here) and what we grow is subject to the changing seasons/weather (you won't find us selling tomatoes in February, the plants aren't big enough yet!). We do strive to provide you with the highest quality, most flavorful produce varieties we can! We prefer to grow heirloom varieties as well as the a mix of colors (we have 4 different colors of tomatoes for example) not necessarily found at your local grocery. Our growing methods are based on "organic methods" and as such you may not find "perfect grocery store produce" from our garden. Our produce can have a blemish or bug bite, not be "perfectly shaped", or may not even be uniform size across multiple specimens; however, it will be the freshest and most nutrient filled veggies you can get! Also, watch for some of our specialty grows we do such as sprouts, unique varieties of produce (green tomatoes for example), and herb varieties. We will keep you up-to-date on the latest produce in season, special grows, and best uses of the produce via email and on the website...make sure to stay connected for the latest!
